SHOW RECAP – 21.10.2017

Missed the show today? You fool! Don’t panic though… here are some of the best bits.

The UK Number 1 this week was ‘Rockstar’ from Post Malone ft. 21 Savage – its 3rd week at the top of the chart!

‘Eleanor Rigby’ was our track for One Way or Another. The Beatles’ version won against Joan Baez’s cover by a score of 6-5.

JP spoke about the Guildford Jazz Festival which is celebrating its inaugural event in Guildford this weekend (20th – 22th October) and mentioned Emily Saunders, who is performing at the event. He also mentioned the upcoming Surrey Vegan Market in Haslemere, which returns to Wey Hill next Saturday (28th October).

JP spoke a little about local artist, Richard Adams, talking about this multiple talents! A definite future candidate for an interview…

We had requests from Matthew, Catherine and Elizabeth (thank you for getting involved!)

This week’s Strictly Update prompted him to share what he’d been asked in the week – his dream combo if he was to be on the show! After a little consideration, he let slip that it would be a jive with ex-pro Natalie Lowe.

Loads of good stuff in the Weekend Guide – as always. This week’s film was ‘Geostorm’.

This week’s ‘Crack the Connection’ songs were:
1) ‘Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby?’ by The Rolling Stones
2) ‘Children of the Universe’ by Molly
3) ‘Teenage Dream’ by Katy Perry
The link was the stages of life! Big well done to regular player, Caroline, for adding another BR car sticker to her collection.

…and finally, the show ended with some really happy news! Past contributor ‘Housemate Dan’ has become ‘Daddy Dan’. JP celebrated with a song – of course!

A busy show but a fun one with Storm Brian playing havoc with the studio blinds and a computer restarting halfway through the show… never a dull show! As ever, a big thanks for your company today. I will be back for another show next weekend – Saturday 3pm to 6pm.

JP 🙂

MISSED THE SHOW? – 30.01.2016

If you missed this weekend’s show, here’s a quick debrief on what happened!

There was loads to chat about as JP and Olivia took to the air once again.
[] JP was very excited to talk about his search for a great local breakfast which found him in Secretts, Milford and Eliza’s Tea Room on Saturday morning. He met a brilliant food writer, Shirlee Posner, who took him for a tour of the complex and shared stories of the company’s history. A podcast of this will appear soon. (Olivia also thought JP looked like he was being a politician for the day in the snaps from his adventure!)
[] The duo spoke about some of the week’s new stories including the £33m lottery ticket being claimed, a new app which features a wake up alarm requiring its user to complete a challenge in order to switch it off and the news that Tesco are ceasing 24 hour trading in over 70 stores, including the Addlestone branch.
[] Sport was on the agenda with Jamie Murray winning in the men’s doubles tennis match earlier in the day and we had updates for the Weybridge Vandals and for Woking FC.

Olivia’s Track of the Week was the new single ‘Human Ceremony’ from Sunflower Bean. It got a good reception from the studio and from you guys. As always, you can see more on Olivia’s blog (

The Weekend Guide was packed with local gigs, events and two big releases in the film world this week. One of them was ‘Dirty Grandpa’ which was generously given just 1 star out of 5. It’s been a while since we have had that happen!

Crack the Connection was a tricky one this week with JP setting a special four song selection:
1. ‘Run The World’ by Beyoncé
2. ‘Locked Out Of Heaven’ by Bruno Mars
3. ‘Roar’ by Katy Perry
4. ‘Hymn for the Weekend’ by Coldplay & Beyoncé

On Twitter, you can follow @eatsurrey, @ElizasTeaRoom and @SecrettsMilford who all helped on JP’s Breakfast Week Quest.
As always, JP is @ItsOnlyJP on Twitter and Olivia is @Owillow17. You can also check out the show’s page:

What did you miss? – 22.07.2015

If you didn’t get to listen into Brooklands Radio tonight, you missed out on a great show!

As well as the normal hilarity on my Midweek Muse broadcasts, Housemate Dan popped in tonight to discuss the week’s stories and have a go at ‘Heads Up’ – a brilliant game for radio. This week’s theme was accents. You can watch the video here:

We also had a little seven second session of Brookie-oke with a Vine of ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ from Bon Jovi tonight:

Really enjoyed having Dan along as the shows are always brilliant with a guest. Always on the lookout for fun people to join in and take part!

Enjoy the rest of the week and I will see you all on Saturday from 3pm 🙂
