That’s the Hallo-weekend Special done again! One of my favourite shows of the year and I can’t believe it has come and gone already. Next step – November. But before that, here’s the rundown on what happened on today’s countdown!
The playlist was FULL of Halloween tracks for this show. Anything with monster, ghost, spooky, fear, scared, trick, treat, etc. in the title was sure for a play. The listeners’ favourite… Monster Mash!
In all the excitement, we dropped ‘One Way or Anything’ for this week but it will be back next Saturday.
Although we hoped for some George Michael in the charts, the number 1 was ‘Rockstar’ from Post Malone ft. 21 Savage again for the 4th week.
JP took some time to chat about a Bake Off themed podcast that he guested on recently and played a clip from the show. You can listen to the preview here and download the podcast series too! ‘In The Mix’ Tease
A busy Weekend Guide this week with lots of local events including ‘Night at The Haslemere Museum’ which runs on Saturday night. Definitely sounded like a brilliant idea! The big movie release was the new Thor film and we touched upon some of the horror contributions that are out for the spooky season.
JP shared the guidance from Surrey Police for a safe Halloween, which is definitely worth checking out here: Surrey Police – Halloween Advice and ‘No Trick or Treaters’ Poster
In sport, it was a loss for Woking FC but a win for Esher Rugby! A mixed bag for the local sports teams. We also looked ahead to the Mexican GP for the F1.
Crack The Connection was trickier than planned and required a very rare 4th song. The tunes this week were:
1. East 17 – ‘Steam’
2. Lighthouse Family – ‘High’
3. Little Mix – ‘Hair’
4. The Paper Kites – ‘Paint’
The connection was FINALLY guessed by Julie, who said it was types of roller… which was close enough to the link on the card (titles that can be followed by the word ‘roller’).
JP also shared dates of upcoming outside broadcasts and events including the AWS Gift Fayre at ACS Cobham (Sunday 19th November), Esher Church School Fair (Saturday 25th November) and the Weybridge Christmas Market (Saturday 2nd December).
So that’s it for October. Two more months of 2017 to go and nine more jam packed shows! Keep an eye on the blog for more information about upcoming programmes and new projects for JP and the station. Exciting times are ahead 🙂
